# About

The About page shows the installed licenses and the release notes of the running version.

Open the page from **About** at the bottom of the sidebar. The menu item shows the running version as a badge and requires the **ReadLicense** permission. The page has two tabs, which can also be opened directly:

* **License**: `/about` or `/about/license`
* **Release Note**: `/about/release-note`

## License

Several licenses can be installed at the same time. Each license covers its own environments, users and scans, and the licenses together define what can be scanned.

### Summary

The line above the table summarizes the installed licenses, for example `1 license · 25 environments · expires 31/08/2027 (341 days left)`. The environment count and the expiry date only take **Active** licenses into account. The date is the earliest expiry among them.

The table is read from the license service in Core. If Core does not answer, the page shows the last stored copy and adds a warning such as `core unreachable, 5 minutes old`.

### License table

| Column           | Description                                                                                                                                          |
| ---------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Status** | **Active**, **Expiring soon** (less than 30 days left), **Expired**, or **Inactive** (a newer license format is installed, so this one is not used). |
| **License** | License ID with a copy button, the license type and format (for example `Standard · v2`), and the optional name and note. |
| **Environments** | Domains and cloud environments the license covers. Each name has its own copy button. |
| **Users** | Number of user accounts the license covers, or **Unlimited**. |
| **Scans** | Total number of scans the license allows, or **Unlimited**. Each environment scanned counts as one scan. |
| **Expires** | Expiry date and the remaining days. |

Expired licenses are listed first, then inactive ones, then the others. Licenses with the same status are sorted by expiry date.

### Managing licenses

The following actions require the **WriteLicense** permission:

* **Add a license**: drag a license file onto the upload area at the bottom of the tab, or click it to browse. The area reads **Upload your license file** when no license is installed and **Add another license file** otherwise. Uploading adds a license. Existing licenses stay in place.
* **Name a license**: open the `⋯` menu of a row and select **Add name & note** (or **Edit name & note**) to give the license a name and a note that are shown in the **License** column.
* **Remove a license**: open the `⋯` menu of a row and select **Remove license**. The confirmation lists the environments the license covers. Scans of those environments stop unless another license covers them.
* **Remove all**: removes every installed license. Type `delete all` in the confirmation dialog to enable the **Remove all licenses** button. Scanning stops until a new license is uploaded.

After a license is added or removed, your session is refreshed so that the new license limits apply without signing in again.

### Without an active license

When no license is installed, or every license has expired, you can still sign in, but only the **About** page is available. Upload a valid license file to unlock the rest of the interface. See [Installation](/forestall/introduction/installation.md).

A colored bar at the top of every page warns about license problems, for example `License expires in 12 days`, `License 1 license expired` or `License not found, please upload license file.`. The bar appears 30 days before expiry (6 days for trial licenses). Click **License** in the bar to open this page, or close the bar for the rest of the browser session.

## Release Note

The **Release Note** tab lists every product version with its release date and its **Added**, **Improved** and **Fixed** items, newest first. The same notes are published in [Release Notes](/forestall/release-notes.md).
